Adults have Ghana card to access healthcare

Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bawumia embarked on a day-long tour in the Volta Region, engaging with clergy members, Muslim clerics, traditional authorities, and the youth in Ho.

Dr. Bawumia commenced his tour by convening distinct gatherings with both clergymen and Muslim clerics.

Addressing the religious leaders in Ho, Bawumia highlighted that the government has integrated the databases of the Ghana Health Service, health centers, registries, and the National Identification Authority (NIA).

This has enabled over 85% of Ghanaian adults who hold the Ghana card to access healthcare without the necessity of a physical folder.

He also mentioned that Ghanaian children will possess two identities: the Ghana card number and the birth certificate number.

“So today, if they give birth to any child in any hospital in Ghana, that child is going to be given two identities. One, the Ghana card number, two the birth certificate number simultaneously.”

Speaking to the religious leaders, Dr. Bawumia explained that he grew up with both Christians and Muslims in his family, so he’s familiar with and has practiced Christianity at some point.

He shared that to govern Ghana effectively if elected, he must grasp the challenges confronting the citizens.

Hence, the purpose of his tour is to engage with stakeholders, and gather insights for his manifesto. Additionally, he seeks their blessings for success in the election.

Dr. Bawumia discussed his plans for digitization, transforming the agriculture sector, implementing a flat tax system, introducing solar power, reducing import duties, and launching public electricity buses, among other initiatives.
